Academic Advising Information

Orientation Week

The faculty of applied medical sciences (FAMS) has established a comprehensive orientation program for the second year students in the first week of each academic year. The program is guided by administrative, non-administrative, and academic staff members and students from different departments of FAMS

The dean of FAMS and vice-dean of the female section welcome all newly admitted students to the faculty and give introductory speeches. This is followed by various scheduled activities that aim to entertain students and acquaint them with the faculty’s services, departments, and facilities.

Orientation within each Department

A welcome is also made by each Department within FAMS through arranging tours to its different labs and assigning members from the department to explain basics information about studying and working in the field of specialty and answer students’ questions before enrolling into the program. Moreover, programs’ alumni and clinical training supervisors are invited to share their post-grad studies and work experience with the new students.

Student Handbook

The Deanship of Admission and Registration created comprehensive handbooks on academic advising for students and academic staff members. The student’s handbook defines several aspects of academic advising at KAU and the procedures applied to benefit from this privilege. It also mentions all the necessary information about studying at KAU, which can be clarified via academic advising.

The process is linked to the main academic portal “My KAU” which accommodates various interactive and personal applications for students and academic staff members. My KAU allows a single access to various university systems and facilitates the integration between those systems as described in this document.

There are specialized academic professionals in their fields who conduct direct, e-consultation, or over the phone services to help students overcome their challenges and achieve their best academic success.
